Funky design combined with performance, the Siemens C55!
Pros: astonnishing design, strong battery, very good software
Cons: some less necessary features
All those years I was an absolutely loyal Nokia-user, but when launching the new Siemens C55 it happened, I was borne away. So I lately ended up purchasing the Siemens C55 since features and performance of the Siemens C55 just crow over the current Nokia phones. I am enormously proud of owning the Siemens C55 and more than happy with my decision. I guess the most important reason for switching to the Siemens C55 was the one-of-a-kind design of the Siemens C55 for its low, low price.
I shall begin my review with the most joyful aspect, the design of the Siemens C55. First of all the exact dimensions of the Siemens C55. Thanks to its integrated antenna the Siemens C55 has dimensions of 101 x 44 x 21 mm only, whereas is merely weigs 80 g!
Its nicely rounded off, ergonomic design makes the Siemens C55 look extremly stylish and in addition to that the Siemens C55 sure is an eye-catcher due to it orange-glimmering screen.Designing the Siemens C55 with many, many curves does pay off well, since the Siemens C55 hereby gains a sort of trendy look.
I chose my Siemens C55 in the colour of 'aqua', the nice thing about the colouring of the Siemens C55 is that you won't only see one colour on the cover of the Siemens C55 but even some more other blue-colourings on the frame and on some parts of the surface of the Siemens C55. The keypad of the Siemens C55 comes in well adjusted to rest of the colour, since its silver colour harmonizes perfectly with the blue of the Siemens C55.
The screen of the Siemens C55 comprises five lines, which is not too much but sufficient for what can be done with the Siemens C55. None of the features suffer under the smaller-sized screen. One can always obtain information on the network, the battery condition and date/time on the screen of the Siemens C55.
In addition to that there can be found two quicklink buttons on the keypad which help accessing the main menu and the telephone book quickly. A navigation button in the center of the Siemens C55 allows easy scrowling in the menu of the Siemens C55.
Even though I was used to activating menus of Nokias only, I was able to adapt so very quick and easily to the menu of the Siemens C55. The navigation button of the Siemens C55 makes it extremly simple to cope with the menu of the Siemens C55. It is helpful indeed that the menu is so well-structured, arranging the different functions in order to their relevance pays off.
I can only empasize the ease of use of the Siemens C55, since it manages to be easily operated despite of its vast offer of features. The user can hardly be disarrayed by the Siemens C55.
The technical performance of the Siemens C55 is higly persuasive, since there is such a vast range of up-to-date features that it's hard to actually make use of all of them.
Always important, the battery performance. The Siemens C55 has a satisfying performance indeed, since its lithium-ion-battery offers a stand-by time of up to 300 hours and a talk time of up to six hours. In addition to that the battery is quickly recharged ... if one finally manages to empty it!
Unfortunately the Siemens C55 is not yet equipped with an colour display, I guess that would have already overkilled the Siemens C55. But except for that the Siemens C55 sure does offer enough nice features, already starting with the the huge telephone book of the Siemens C55, which of course can arrange all its entries group-wise.
The messaging function of the tiny Siemens C55 certainly is even more interesting. Offering the possibility of writing messages with 760 characters when being able to make use of the T9 predicitive text function makes the Siemens C55 a great mobile phone.
An amazing ammount of 35 messages can be saved in the inbox of the Siemens C55, which really is very, very handy since one is not constantly forced to delete older messages. If the inbox capacity of the Siemens C55 is still insufficient, messages can then be moved to an archive, which can hold many hundred messages. I have no idea how many messages can actually be moved to the archive, but I sure can say that the archive is a very, very good feature, since nobody will be forced anymore to delete all those nice messages.
Further more the Siemens C55 makes hands free talking possible, possesses a powerful vibratory alert and a small yet useful organizer. Those who like these games in mobile phones can be satisfied but not really happy with the Siemens C55 since it only has two integrated games. Howsoever this fact does not bother me at all, since I never make use of those games.
In order to beautify ones Siemens C55 one can chose between numerous screensavers and even more ringing tones which of course may as well be composed personally.
Not to be forgotten, the internet function of the Siemens C55. The Siemens C55 is equipped with a well functioning w@p-browser, however I just can't slur over the horrendous price of this function. That's why I rarely make use of this function, it's simply not worth the money.
Now something on the reception quality of the Siemens C55. The reception quality of the Siemens C55 is brilliant and I can definitaly say that there is a greater gap between the Siemens C55 and my former Nokias. I always have an outstanding reception with my Siemens C55, no matter where I am, almost a miracle.
The same can be said about the sound quality of the Siemens C55, I have only experienced the best sound with the Siemens C55 so far. I can't really make out a greater difference of the sound quality of the Siemens C55 and my telephone at home.
As you can see, I am very happy with the purchase of the Siemens C55 and I guess I will continue buying Siemens mobile phones in the future since their performance and especially quality is just more of what I want. Of course some of the features of the Siemens C55 are less important, but why not have them if no additional charge has to be paid. I am still astonnished of how much you can get for such little money.
